Codex weekly usage decision tool

Codex Reset Worth Calculator

Should you use a banked reset now—or did a Tibo hard reset actually help? Compare your remaining quota with the time and workload left before the natural weekly refresh.

This is a what-if check for a broad reset landing right now on your current weekly window.

Forced timing

Check if Tibo Hard Reset Is Worth It

How to use the Tibo reset calculator

Enter the weekly percentage already used and the hours until natural refresh. The result estimates whether you would otherwise hit the weekly limit and how many blocked hours a full reset could avoid.

User-controlled timing

Check if Banked Reset Is Worth It

How to use the Banked reset calculator

Choose Banked reset, add the same weekly values, and optionally enter expiry. The efficient trigger is usually near projected depletion or shortly before expiry—not simply when used percentage is high.

Did Tibo reset Codex?

A broad announcement and your personal account state are different facts. This panel tracks the public evidence; the calculator and local parser handle your own window.

How the Calculation Works

The original shortcut “profit = 100 − remaining” always collapses to “profit = used,” so it labels almost every non-empty window profitable. This calculator instead asks whether the current quota reaches natural refresh.

remaining = 100 − usedobserved pace = used ÷ elapsed hoursprojected demand vs. remaining quota
01

Reconstruct the weekly window

The natural reset time implies how much of the seven-day window has elapsed. That lets the tool estimate an observed percentage burn rate.

02

Project the work ahead

Future pace can stay the same or be adjusted lighter or heavier. Planned idle time is removed from active demand.

03

Find the depletion point

If projected quota empties before natural refresh, the gap represents potential blocked time that a full reset could avoid.

04

Price the reset-window shift

A full banked reset restarts both the 5-hour and weekly windows. The weekly reset date moves to roughly seven days after redemption.

Official OpenAI rule

Full banked reset = both usage windows restart

OpenAI currently says a full banked reset resets both the 5-hour and weekly usage windows, moving the weekly reset date to roughly seven days after redemption. Offer eligibility and expiry can vary.

Practical answers

FAQ

Answers are kept short so the page remains a tool, not a wall of content.

When is Tibo reset bad for you?

It is low-value timing when your remaining weekly quota is already projected to reach the natural refresh. A full reset may discard that remainder and move the next weekly reset later without avoiding any limit gap.

What’s the difference between Tibo reset and banked reset?

A Tibo-style broad hard reset happens on OpenAI’s timing and may affect a broad group. An eligible banked reset is user-controlled. The calculator treats Tibo mode as “what if a full reset lands now” and Banked mode as a timing decision.

Should I activate my banked reset right before weekly refresh?

Usually not just because refresh is close. If remaining quota reaches refresh, waiting preserves the reset for a future limit event. Use near projected depletion, before expiry, or when immediate 5-hour access is genuinely worth restarting the weekly clock.

Does a banked reset restart both Codex limits?

OpenAI currently says a full banked reset restarts both the 5-hour and weekly usage windows, and the weekly reset date moves to roughly seven days after redemption.

Why is used percentage alone not enough?

Ninety percent used can be harmless when refresh is one hour away, but urgent when refresh is four days away. Time remaining, workload ahead, idle time, and expiry determine whether the reset creates useful runway.

Does a Tibo announcement prove my account reset?

No. A broad public announcement is evidence of intended scope, not proof of every account’s UI state. Check Codex usage or paste the usage panel from /status.

Where does my pasted status text go?

Nowhere. Parsing runs in this browser tab. Raw text is not uploaded or stored; credential-like text is blocked and cleared.

Do banked resets always expire after 30 days?

Current referral terms commonly specify 30 days, but OpenAI says the exact benefit, expiration, and redemption requirements can vary by offer, plan, workspace, and region. Use the expiry shown in your product UI.
