When does your Codex quota reset?

Your Codex quota reset time is personal: it depends on when your own windows opened. Paste /status below to see your Codex weekly limit reset and 5-hour reset as live countdowns.

Banked resets: redeem before they expire

A banked reset goes through three steps: it is granted, it sits in your account, and it is either redeemed or it expires. Only redeeming it touches your limits, and a redeemed reset refills the weekly window, and the 5-hour window where your plan has one. Save its expiry date in the clock above for a countdown.

  1. In the Codex app, open your profile menu and choose the usage summary.
  2. On the web, open Codex and Work analytics and go to the Usage tab.
  3. If a banked reset is available, a redeem button appears beside your limits.
  4. Redeem it when you are nearly out, not before: unused quota is lost when the window restarts.

Out of usage? Ways to get it back

Start with your own window: run /status in the Codex CLI. If the 5-hour window is the empty one, the wait may be short. If your account holds a banked reset, redeeming it refills your windows at once.

Paid plans can also buy credits that are spent after the included limits run out, and a lighter model draws down the same allowance more slowly. Otherwise you are waiting for Tibo: a global reset refills everyone, so watch the live odds or set an alert.

Logging out, reinstalling the CLI or opening a new session resets nothing, because limits belong to your account, not your device. Paste your /status output into the clock above to see which window blocks you and when it returns.

When do readers think the next reset lands?

A reader guess, one per person per reset cycle. It is shown for fun and is never mixed into the forecast.

Questions people ask

A global reset does: every eligible account gets its weekly window back at full, plus its 5-hour window on plans that have one, each with a fresh countdown. A banked reset does the same, but only when you redeem it. If you still had plenty left, a reset gains you little and moves your next weekly refill later.

You cannot force one. Limits belong to your account, so logging out, reinstalling the CLI or starting a new session changes nothing. Your real options are waiting for your own window to roll over, redeeming a banked reset if you hold one, buying credits on a paid plan, switching to a lighter model, or waiting for Tibo.
